"They're not the only brand I'd eat, but they're the only brand I'd recommend!"
We like lots of stuff, and are arrogant enough to think other people might want to know what some of those things are. The suggestions below are not necessarily our favorites in those genres, but are ones we'd definitely recommend. At least right now.

TV Shows
Contemporary: Gilmore Girls
A fast-talking, life-paced show about people just living their lives and having relationships. We'll admit to a healthy dose of nostalgia coloring our affection for the show, but Gilmore Girls has a lot of offer someone seeking funny, character-driven stories with flawed people.Comedy: Parks & Recreation
A hilarious, witty show about the government employees in a Parks & Recreation department in Pawnee, Indiana. This show is shot in similar style to The Office, but has a lot more heart and people who care a lot more for each other. You'll also finally understand all the Ron Swanson gifs.Note: Michelle recommends starting with season 2, and Melissa recommends watching season 1 at some point.
Netflix Original: Stranger Things
Worth the hype. It's basically three ‘80s movies rolled into one 8-episode show. But better. You have your adult government conspiracy storyline, your teen monster horror, and your E.T joy. We loved it. You'll love it. Plus, according to our parents, it's incredibly accurate. Our mom even had Nancy's binder in high school.
Sci Fi: The 100
Yes, it’s based on a terrible YA dystopian trilogy. But the writers almost immediately ditched everything to do with that to write their own thoughtful, character-driven show. Every choice has consequences, and the writers never pull their punches. For the premise, it centers around survival ~100 years after a nuclear holocaust. You have adults on a space station struggling with politics and morality around how to keep the most people alive, and you have teens dropped on Earth struggling with politics and morality around how to not kill each other.
Superhero: Agents of SHIELD
No, the Avengers don’t appear in it. Here’s the thing: we don’t need ‘em. Phil Coulson and his team have to navigate the world of supers without any of those power-ups themselves. And you know? That kind of makes for a more interesting story.
The show also has this thing where it reinvents itself completely for each new season, keeping the feeling and plots very fresh.

Cartoon: Avatar: The Last Airbender
“Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked...”
Amazing for any age, any time, any mood. Just watch it.
(Full disclosure, Michelle didn’t really dig it until part way through the first season, but now it’s one of her top shows of all time.)
Prepare for comedy, tragedy, and awesome.

Anime: Code Geass
At first, Lelouch’s goal was simple: overthrow the Britannian Empire. Things quickly spin out of control when you mix mind control, mecha, terrorism, cultural revolution, and high school drama.Prepare for comedy, tragedy, and awesome.
